Rogelio Manzo
Overview
"My adventuresome approach in my work intends to descend into our psychological and mystic abysses.”
Rogelio Manzo is a contemporary artist known for his captivating portraiture and evocative images of the human figure. Originally from Mexico, he later settled in Sacramento after spending his youth in Reno, Nevada. While studying architecture in Mexico, Manzo discovered his true passion for painting and decided to pursue art as a full-time career. Influenced by his background in architecture, he incorporates unconventional materials like resin panels and layers of fabric to create a unique interplay of light and darkness in his artwork. Manzo's compelling portraits challenge the notion of perfection and explore the profound themes of mortality and social injustice, while also celebrating the raw and imperfect nature of human existence.
Manzo's captivating artistry has garnered significant acclaim, propelling him to showcase his thought-provoking work in renowned venues and diverse international art fairs. His artistic expressions have adorned galleries, international art fairs, and museums across North America, Europe, and Asia. Notably, Manzo's exceptional talent has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including a prestigious presentation at The Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City. By skillfully combining elegance and decay, Manzo creates imagery that balances horror and beauty, leaving a lasting impact on viewers. His artwork not only stimulates aesthetic pleasure but also serves as a powerful reminder of the transient nature of life and the need to confront the uncomfortable realities of our world.
