"It is the subtle brush of oil that brings calmness to the eye."
Born in 1960 in the bustling city of London, Alan Kingsbury has since established himself as a remarkable artist, currently residing in the picturesque region of West Cornwall. Demonstrating prodigious talent at an early age, Kingsbury began creating oil paintings by the tender age of nine. His academic pursuits led him to study psychology and art history, further enriching his artistic sensibilities.
In 1983, Kingsbury embarked on an esteemed internship at the prestigious Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, where he immersed himself in the world of contemporary art. Subsequently, he assumed the role of a cataloguer for modern paintings at Bonhams Auctioneers. This experience provided him with invaluable insights into the nuances of detail and effect, as he closely examined thousands of artworks. In 1986, Kingsbury relocated to Venice, dedicating himself to his craft as a full-time artist. He honed his skills through painting en plein air, capturing the essence of the city's shifting light and atmosphere in his outdoor oil sketches.
Over the past three decades, Kingsbury's extraordinary oil painting techniques have garnered widespread acclaim. He has hosted numerous solo exhibitions and showcased his work at esteemed institutions, such as the Royal Academy of Arts, The New English Art Club, and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. His captivating creations hold particular appeal for art collectors who value meticulous craftsmanship and evocative visual storytelling.
