"It is the subtle brush of oil that brings calmness to the eye."
Born in London and currently residing in West Cornwall, Kingsbury started producing works in oils from the age of nine. After studying psychology and art history, he got accepted an internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice in 1983. Subsequently, as a cataloguer of modern paintings for Bonhams Auctioneers, he viewed many thousands of paintings and gained a real understanding of detail and effect. It was in 1986 when he moved to Venice and painted outdoor oli sketches in varying light conditions as a full-time artist.
Kingsbury’s wonderful techniques in oil painting has brought him numerous solo exhibitions over the last thirty years and he has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, The New English Art Club and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
